Have Miracles and Healing Really Ceased in the Church

The Inherent Power in the Word of God

I want us to think about the Word of God. Words are the means by which God communicates and reveals Himself to His creation. His Words reveal His Thoughts, His Attitudes, His Emotions,
His Desires, Will, Purposes and Intents.

Unlike us, what God Says, He Means...and what He Means, He Says....

"Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration)"

God's Word contains Inherent POWER. Inherent means "existing in someone or something as a permanent and inseparable element, quality, or attribute".

So, we find existing within every Word of Scripture when it is Ingested and Proclaimed, the explosive dynamic of Transforming Resurrection Power.

God has carefully preserved His Word down through the ages so that His Character, Works, Will and Purpose would be revealed and available for all who would partake. The very Life of God Himself available for all.

Can you Stop a minute and try to get you heart around that last statement...All Scripture, not just the red letters but all scripture, Old Testament and New Testament, is GOD-BREATHED.

If this is so, and it surely is, why in the world wouldn't I start speaking His Words instead of my own paltry and ineffective selection of words?

I often think what a wonderfully trusting God He is to equip ME with a tongue... knowing that "death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue, and those who love it will eat of it's fruit".

I also often wonder why preachers and teachers read a scripture or two, and then go off on a tangent spewing off their own words of wisdom; many times having nothing to do with the Scripture they just finished reading.

Do we really think that  inherent Power exists within our own verbal offerings instead of God's Communication?

Or do we not understand that "where there are many words transgression is unavoidable?"

Doesn't it go without mentioning that if I were to speak forth His Word, that atmospheres would change around me? That attitudes would change around me? That lives would be changed around me? That decisions would be made around me? That plans would be changed around me? That darkness would flee around me? That hopes and dreams would be birthed around me? Praise and Worship would be Inspired around me?

The many words we speak in a day that don't contain God's Word are really an indictment of unbelief against us. We don't really believe what God says about His Word and His exhortations throughout Scripture...that we really are too settled into the kingdoms of this world instead of the KINGDOM OF GOD.

We just don't quite grasp that we are "foreigners and strangers" just passing through this world. Like Abraham, an Old Testament saint, who "in faith" obeyed the Word of God and picked up lock, stock and barrel, and left his comfort zone and his kingdom to find God's.

Jesus revealed to us the principles of His Kingdom...that His Kingdom was invisible to the natural eye, and was diametrically opposed to the visible Kingdom that Satan has set up on earth.

We that were "rescued from the kingdom of darkness and transferred to the Kingdom of the Son that He loves..."  And as Kingdom dwellers we have been fitted for His invisible Kingdom with everything we need for "life and godliness" in Christ Jesus.

We have become a brand new "creation" with a new heart, and the mind of Christ. Now we think like Him, act like Him, and talk like Him. We eat new food called manna from heaven...we drink new water which is the Water of Life...we sing new songs which He puts in our hearts...and it all flows from the LIVING WORD OF GOD.

Colossians 3:16 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

1 Peter 4:11 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.

Let these Living Words speak to your heart

2Ti 3:16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction,  for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Heb 4:12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

The Word of God is "Living" and "bursting full of dynamic resurrection Power"

Let me see if I can make this easier for us to grasp and experience in our own lives. JESUS is called the "Word" of God.

John 1:1 NIV John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Now I want to put Jn 1:1 together with Jn 1:14 please follow me here

1. (v1) In the beginning was the Word (Christ)..... (v14) And the  Word (Christ) became flesh (human-incarnate)

  2. (v1) and the Word was with God (Father)...... (v14) and made his dwelling among us

  3. (v1) and the Word was God Himself..... (v14) We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Can you see it? The Father revealed His Fullness by sending His Son, THE LIVING WORD of God. He is the full revelation and communication from the Father. He is God, manifested in Living and Loving Flesh and blood so we could understand Who God is. He is living and Spirit. He gives Spiritual life to the spiritually dead. It is through the Living Word of God that He reveals to us the His Living incarnated Word, ie, His Son, JESUS CHRIST.

That is what Jesus means when He said, " My sheep hear my Voice and follow me". His sheep don't read the Scriptures, the Word of God as a book and a set of rules and regulations to follow. No, when His sheep read the Word of God, these Words become the very Voice of the Great Sheppard and these Words are life to the sheep. "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God".

That's what God tried to teach His children in the wilderness wanderings:

Deuteronomy 8:3 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

That's what Jesus meant when He said to His Disciples:

Matthew 4:4 4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Now here is something that can just transform your life.

Stop looking at the Written Word differently than you look at Jesus Christ the Living Word. If Jesus Christ walked in the room with you and invited you to come walk on the water with Him there would probably be no hesitation on your part to go with Him.

If He told you He had a mountain for you to move...you wouldn't hesitate would you?

If He told you there was a sea that He needed you to part....you would be on your way to the nearest seashore wouldn't you.

Well Moses believed God's Word....Joshua and Caleb believed God's Word....Peter believed God's Word-at least enough to jump out of the boat and start his walk; the only thing that interrupted it was when he took his eyes off Jesus.

So we need to change our frame of thought. We need to see that Jesus Christ and the written Word are the same. They are both saturated with God's Life, Power, and the very Nature of God.

They both reveal the Godhead in its total essence. Every inch of Power and Might that is in Jesus Christ is inherent in the written Word of God. Understand the Spirit of God that was the anointing Power in Jesus, is the same Spirit of God that is loosed when ever the Word of God is ingested or Proclaimed.

Jesus Christ, the Word of God is Truth and Spirit

This is why the Apostle Paul could cry out with absolute confidence "I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the POWER of God unto Salvation for all who believe-first for the Jew and then the Gentile"
